To improve the quality of diagnostics test for infectious diseases and oncology, the Colli-Pee™ device provides non-invasive, self-collected and volumetric sampling of first-void urine. The term first-void urine refers to the initial portion of urine that is voided during the act of urination irrespective of the time of day. First-void urine exhibits elevated concentrations of specific biomarkers that have built up in the bladder, urogenital tract, and additionally in the cervicovaginal tract for women. These substances encompass cellular debris containing DNA, RNA, and proteins from host cells, as well as cell-free biomarkers like extracellular vesicles or cell-free nucleic acids (DNA and RNA).
As a result, first-void urine is a valuable liquid biopsy for targeted diagnostic purposes associated with particular diseases, such as (non)urogenital oncologic disorders among others.
